Built from Direction L, the nib mic. The trick that makes it work: a mic capsule is already shaped like a head, and a pen nib is already shaped like shoulders tapering to a point. So the person is not added on top; the pen and the mic become the person.
A is the one that says all three at a glance and still reads at 16 pixels: a mic for a head, a nib for a body, and the orange breather hole where the heart is. It looks like a person first, which is what makes it warm; you notice the pen and the mic second, which is what makes it clever. It pairs with any name, including tellsy.
B, the ghostwriter, is the best mascot: keep it for onboarding, empty states and social. C tells the story best but is too detailed for an app icon. D is the most elegant, but a thin line fades at small sizes.
